Booking doctor appointments should be simple, reliable and suited to your needs. At Ocean Grove Medical Clinic and Barwon Heads Medical Clinic, we offer consultations for patients across Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads.

Our medical clinics operate by appointment only, with consultations available Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm. We make every effort to accommodate your preferred doctor, including female doctor appointments where requested.

While we aim to keep doctor appointments running on time, delays can occasionally occur due to emergencies or high patient demand.

Doctor consultations information

Standard doctor appointments are 10 to 15 minutes in duration and are suitable for one to two health concerns only.

We recommend booking a 30-minute appointment if:

• Have multiple issues to discuss
• Require a full health check or examinations that require a medical report
• Need forms, reports or documentation completed
• Are attending for minor procedures

All repeat prescriptions, referrals, test results and paperwork that require a doctor to complete need an appointment.

Home visits may be available for regular patients in Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads who are unable to attend the clinic due to illness.

Cancelling your doctor appointment

If you are unable to attend your doctor appointment, please notify our team as early as possible so the time can be offered to another patient. A $50 cancellation fee may apply for missed doctor appointments and is not covered by Medicare.

Our team is committed to keeping doctor appointments running efficiently, and your punctual attendance helps support this for all patients.

Telephone calls

To maintain a high standard of care, our doctors generally require patients to attend doctor appointments rather than providing advice over the phone.

Our reception team will manage incoming calls and forward urgent matters where necessary. For non-urgent enquiries, messages will be passed on and returned at a later time.

Results follow-up

If you require results from pathology, imaging or other tests, please book a follow-up doctor appointment.

Patients with abnormal results will be contacted directly, so it is important your contact details are up to date. Contact will be made either via text message, phone call or mail.

Your medical record is a confidential document. In line with National Privacy Principles it is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health records at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff.
